Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
TechaNewz is a tech-news aggregation service operated by Aryan Singh, based in Gurugram, India ("we", "our", "us"). This policy explains what data we collect when you use the TechaNewz mobile app or website (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. Contact us any time at support@dimssu.com.
2. Information we collect
You can use TechaNewz two ways. We collect different information depending on which one you choose.
2.1 Guest mode (no account)
- Anonymous device ID: when you first open the app, we generate a random identifier such as
user_8h3f9dand store it locally on your device. We do not link it to your real identity. - View history: a list of which articles you have opened, used only to prevent showing you the same article twice in your feed.
- Push-notification token(only if you grant notification permission): an opaque token issued by your device's operating system, used to deliver breaking-news alerts.
2.2 Signed in with Google or email
If you sign in, we additionally store:
- Email address
- Display name and profile photo (when you sign in with Google, these come from your Google profile)
- Whether your email is verified
- If you signed up with email/password, a one-way salted hash of your password — never the password itself
When you sign in for the first time, any reading history you built up in guest mode is migrated to your account so your feed stays personalized.
2.3 What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, your location, payment information, biometrics, content from other apps, or browsing activity outside of TechaNewz.
3. How we use your information
- To personalize your news feed by filtering out articles you have already read
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in
- To send push notifications you have opted into
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and rate-limit violations
- To debug and improve the Service
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with data brokers.
4. Third-party service providers
We rely on the following providers to operate the Service. Each processes only the minimum data needed to perform its role under contractual confidentiality terms.
- Google Firebase Authentication — verifies Google Sign-In tokens. Privacy: policies.google.com/privacy
- MongoDB Atlas (US/EU regions) — database hosting for your account record, view history, and push token. Privacy: mongodb.com/legal/privacy
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — backend server hosting.
- Vercel — frontend and marketing site hosting. Privacy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Expo (Expo Push Service) — delivers push notifications. Privacy: expo.dev/privacy
- Perplexity AI — used to aggregate publicly available news articles. We do not send any user-identifying data to Perplexity.
5. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by the providers listed above, which may be located outside India (typically in the United States or European Union). By using the Service you consent to this international transfer. All data in transit is encrypted with TLS.
6. How long we keep your data
- Guest mode: view history is kept for as long as the anonymous ID exists on your device. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes it.
- Signed-in accounts: account information is kept while your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your account, view history, and push tokens within 30 days.
- Logs and security records: kept up to 30 days for abuse prevention, then deleted.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate data
- Delete — request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent — for example, by disabling push notifications in your device settings, or by signing out
To exercise any of these rights, email support@dimssu.com from the address linked to your account. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
TechaNewz is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS for all network traffic, hash passwords using industry-standard one-way functions, scope database access to a single application user, and limit administrative endpoints with a shared API key. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your data we will notify you within 72 hours.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 7 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent change.
